U.S. Embassy Expresses Concern Over March 22 Elections
2 MINUTE READ
March 30, 2020

The Embassy of the United States is deeply concerned about the political divisions within Guinea following the March 22 vote.  Our own observations, and government reports of closed or ransacked polling stations, bring into question the credibility of the announced turnout figures and results.  The only path forward is an immediate end to all violence, dialog by all stakeholders, and consensus on an agreement that resolves fundamental political disputes.  Finally, a transparent and speedy investigation into all protest-related deaths, with all those implicated brought to justice, is paramount in establishing reconciliation and halting the cycle of violence.
