Event:  COVID-19 and U.S. Embassy Operations in Guinea

As of August 3, 2020, Guinea has confirmed 7,364 cases of COVID-19 within its borders since March 12, 2020, and 46 hospital deaths.  Guinea does not report non-hospital deaths due to COVID-19.  The state of health emergency in Guinea has been extended through August 15, 2020.

The Government of Guinea has announced that the Gbessia International Airport in Conakry is reopening.  Please follow information about commercial options on the websites of commercial airlines operating in Guinea, such as Air France, Brussels Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines, Emirates, ASKY, etc., or by coordinating with a local travel agency.  Air France occasionally operates flights from Conakry to Paris.  Brussels Airlines has suspended all flights to and from Conakry through at least September 1.

The airlines are your best source of information.  The U.S. Embassy has no further information on flight options into or out of Guinea.

U.S. government personnel in Guinea are largely teleworking to reduce the risk of transmission and the U.S. Embassy in Conakry has suspended all visa and DNA services.

U.S. citizens remaining in Guinea who wish to depart should do so as soon as they are able to find a commercial flight.

If you have not already done so, please enroll in the Department of State’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) as all information is disseminated through STEP messages.
