Event:  COVID-19 and Embassy Operations

There are eight confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Guinea.  No cases of local transmission have been confirmed.

All consular services, including services for U.S. citizens, have been suspended until further notice.  If you are a U.S. citizen with a life or death emergency, please call +224-655-10-40-00.  All other matters, please email ConakryACS@state.gov.

The Embassy will send alerts to registered U.S. citizens via the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) at minimum each Tuesday and Friday . Please register at this site if you have not already done so, even if you submitted a paper form to the Embassy.

This is the ONLY way you will receive alerts and messages from the U.S. Embassy.  We no longer accept paper forms.

On March 19, 2020, the U.S. Department of State issued a Global Level 4 Health Alert-Do Not Travel-due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At 11:59 on March 21, the Government of Guinea closed the Conakry Gbessia International Airport to commercial air traffic for the next 45 days.  Airports have already closed in most neighboring countries.

We are exploring all option to repatriate U.S. citizens and Legal Permanent Residents back to their residence in the U.S., but please understand that this may not be possible, and you should plan to remain in Guinea for an extended period.  If you reside abroad, we advise that you remain in your place of usual residence.

If you are a US citizen or Legal Permanent Resident who resides in the United States and are trying to return to the U.S., please reply to ConakryACS@state.gov with the following information for all family members requiring repatriation after you complete your STEP registration.  We will maintain this information and contact you immediately if we locate any options to return to the U.S.

The Presidential Proclamations restricting entry into the United States for individuals who have been physically present in China, Iran, the United Kingdom, or Schengen countries does NOT apply to U.S. citizens or Legal Permanent Residents.
