Event:  June 2 Repatriation Flight is FULL and COVID-19 Embassy Operations

A U.S. government repatriation flight for U.S. citizens scheduled for June 2, 2020 is now fully booked.  All confirmed and standby passengers were successfully notified individually via email on Saturday, May 30 and provided with their check-in times via individual email on Sunday, May 31, 2020. or Monday, June 1, 2020.

Do not call the Embassy to ask about your status or request a seat.  We cannot provide assistance with this on the phone.  Again, all confirmed and standby passengers for this flight have received individual emails.

If you did not receive an individual confirmation or standby email and a check-in time email, then you do not have a seat on this flight.  Do not come to the airport, you will not be allowed to enter the airport.

If you have not already done so, please enroll in the Department of State’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) as all information is disseminated through STEP messages.

As of May 31, 2020, there are 3,706 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 23 deaths of hospitalized individuals reported in Guinea since March 12, 2020.  Guinea does not report non-hospital deaths due to COVID-19.

The Gbessia International Airport in Conakry is closed to commercial traffic, and there no regular options for air travel into or out of Guinea.

We do not anticipate that there will be any future U.S. government repatriation flights and U.S. citizens remaining in Guinea should prepare to remain here for an indefinite and extended period until commercial flights are again available.

Please follow information about commercial options on the websites of commercial airlines operating in Guinea, such as Air France, Brussels Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines, Emirates, ASKY, etc., or by coordinating with a local travel agency.  Air France occasionally operates flights from Conakry to Paris.  Brussels Airlines has suspended all flights to and from Conakry through September 1.

U.S. government personnel in Guinea are teleworking to reduce the risk of transmission and the U.S. Embassy in Conakry has suspended all visa, DNA, and non-emergency services for U.S. citizens.  U.S. citizens may contact us via email at ConakryACS@state.govfor emergency services.

Please pay close attention to the automated response you will receive when emailing this mailbox as we update that response daily with useful information that is likely to answer any questions you may have.
