On February 20, 2015, the newly launched Guinea Fulbright Alumni Association (GFAA) in collaboration with Conakry US Embassy organized a 3-hour launch ceremony for their “MEEL Project” with an audience of 150 coming from different sectors. Chaired by the Deputy Chief of Mission, the ceremony was held in the presence of the Guinean Minister of Higher Education, the Minister of Pre-University Education and the Minister of Vocational Education and Labor. The MEEL project (Mentoring for Education, Employment and Leadership), which was a winner of the Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund, aims to develop youth skills, employability, leadership through exposure to the realities of businesses and government world using an organized mentorship approach. The event received extensive media coverage. The Guinean Ministers praised the project and congratulated the Fulbright Alumni Association on their initiative, which is in line with national aspirations and government priorities.
