Learn, exchange, grow, and serve. The U.S. Department of State offers many programs for non-U.S. citizens wishing to come to the U.S. for cultural, educational, or professional exchange. These programs are augmented by local opportunities in countries around that world that allow non-U.S. citizens to explore U.S. culture and the English language.

Established in 2010, the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) is the U.S. government’s signature effort to invest in the next generation of African leaders. Over the past decade, YALI has grown to include the Mandela Washington Fellowship exchange program, YALI Mandela Washington Fellowship, four Regional Leadership Centers (RLCs) in Africa YALI Regional Leadership Center and an extensive digital community called the YALI Network, YALI Network. These programs aim to strengthen democratic institutions and good governance, spur economic growth and prosperity, and foster peace and security in Africa.
The EducationUSA Advising Service of the Public Affairs Section of the United States Embassy in Guinea provides accurate, comprehensive, and current information to students living in Guinea who seriously want to carry on their studies in the United States. The EducationUSA advisor meets with students on a walk-in basis or by appointment for personalized counseling. He also holds weekly group counseling sessions in public and private secondary schools and universities in Conakry and upcountry. The American Corner located at General Lansana Conte University contains undergraduate and graduate programs reference materials, ETS test preparation materials, and computer stations equipped with internet for research on colleges and universities in the United States. The Humphrey Fellowship is a Fulbright program that brings accomplished mid-career professionals with demonstrated leadership potential to the United States for a year of non-degree graduate-level study, leadership development, and substantive professional collaboration with U.S. counterparts.
This is the largest Fulbright program with Africa, primarily designed to strengthen African universities through higher degree training. Qualified candidates from other educational, cultural and professional institutions may also apply. Recent graduates, especially women, are encouraged to apply.
