Ambassador Laskaris visits Boke

500boffa11Ambassador Laskaris travelled to Boke this week and spoke with civil society leaders, youth, political parties and other citizens about their hopes for free, credible, peaceful elections.  Afterwards, he gave an interview at the local rural radio station.  Radio plays an important part in relaying information to people throughout Guinea.  “Elections are on everyone’s minds, but let’s not forget that while there has been tremendous progress with Ebola, we must all stay vigilant.” Later that day, the Ambassador met with over 200 citizens in Boffa, exchanging views about the voting process. “Both Guinea and the USA are democracies, with political parties competing for voters.  Logistics are never easy, but a credible process is under way, and communities play an important role in bringing about transparent elections.”
