Event: ASKY/Ethiopian Airways Charter Evacuation Flight on April 10, 2020; Purchase Ticket by April 6
The U.S Embassy in Conakry is working to facilitate a special commercial charter flight through Satguru Travel Agency for U.S. citizens and those eligible to travel to the U.S.
This potential ASKY/Ethiopian Airways flight will transit through Freetown and Lomé to Newark, New Jersey. The flight is tentatively scheduled to depart on Friday, April 10. This is subject to change.
U.S visa holders are eligible to purchase tickets on this flight, but priority will be given to U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents. If you are not a U.S. citizen or U.S. Legal Permanent Resident, you must have a valid visa before purchasing a ticket. The consular section is closed for routine consular services and is not able to process visa applications at this time. Please note that there are no guarantees that visa holders will be admitted to the U.S. and all Presidential Proclamations related to travel to the U.S. remain in force.
Passengers will be responsible for paying for the ticket upfront, approximately $3,500. You can purchase the tickets (cash only) directly from the travel agency.

If you are waiting to get a better price, or to arrive at a different location in the U.S. you should likely accept that you will have to remain in Guinea until COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, airports reopen, and airlines schedule regular commercial flights.
You must purchase your tickets by Monday, April 6. You will be responsible for any arrangements or costs (lodging, onward destination or local transportation, etc.) beyond the initial destination of Newark, New Jersey. The Embassy is unable to make reservations on your behalf. You can work with the travel agency directly to book connecting flights to your destination in the U.S.
Once you purchase your ticket, the travel agency will provide you more details regarding the flight schedule. Final flight confirmation will depend on the demand. If sufficient reservations are not made and paid for, this flight may be cancelled.
The Gbessia International Airport in Conakry is closed to commercial traffic, and there no current options for air travel into or out of Guinea, other than this flight. The U.S. Embassy in Guinea is continuing to search for options for U.S. citizens to depart Guinea, but we do not expect to identify further options and U.S. citizens should expect to remain in Guinea until commercial air travel resumes. Any information we develop on any option will be disseminated via STEP. All U.S. citizens should insure they are registered in STEP.
